How to create fun memories at your next Reunion

Strengthening the ties and having fun as well is a winner combination for your next reunion.   Surveys show that spending more time with family and friends and less on your phone or other electronic gadget can be more fulfilling and a conducive environment for creating lasting memories

Here a few tips on how to make it a memorable one.

1. Work it! Work It! Work in the theme nicely - Determine if you want a themed event and how to express the concept.

2. Welcome packets - A nice touch that says " we appreciate your making out the time to be a part of our event" is a list of things to do in the area in between activities such as information on shopping malls, local markets, cafes and good restaurants. Phone numbers and websites or a point of contact also come in handy.

3. Signature event - create an event that would involve group participation. Ice breakers can get the group warmed up be it a reunion, shower or retirement get together. How about a 2-parter?
It could be a 2 part event where the reunion picnic could be followed up with a game or bowling night, a paint night or hands on baking class that even "the novice" walks away with a new skill, an amazing experience and a delicious treat to boot.

4. Favors - who does not like to be appreciated? Identify items for the reunion favor or swag bags or gift boxes. Customized shopping totes can be used for packaging the items or even gift boxes depending on the size of the items. A cost effective option is the reusable shopping totes for under $1 available at retail stores.

5. Highlight the local flavor - Include tourist guides or and maps of the town. Free copies may be available at the local chamber of commerce or travel agencies. Contact local businesses that may be interested in providing promotional materials such as pens and pads or magnets.  Take a historic tour train ride can make for a fund day trip for the group.

6. Sense of Belonging  - What's that one item for everyone that creates a sense of belonging? - A t-shirt commemorating the reunion is also a nice addition. Get everyone involved early in the planning process by welcoming ideas for a graphic design for the shirt that expresses the theme of the reunion.

7. Family Tree and Other ideas - Other items to be included in the swag or favor bags - candy, power banks, lip balm or and single use disposable cameras to be used to capture memories. For family reunions, framed picture of the family tree would be a wonderful addition.

Anyone or all of these is enough reason to light up at the Reunion!
